Who’s Behind TheCarLane
Hi, I’m Ayush Sondhi, founder and author of everything on this site. I’m an automotive enthusiast based in India, and I run TheCarLane as an independent, one-person publication focused on VW, Skoda, Audi and SEAT diagnostics.
Why I started this:
When my EPC light came on during a 175 km highway drive, I pulled over in a panic. Every guide I found gave me the same generic list of causes. None told me what to actually do at that moment, on the road, with a car in limp mode. I figured it out, the full story is in the EPC guide and that experience showed me how much practical, tested automotive information is missing online. TheCarLane started in October 2025 to fill that gap.
How Articles Here Get Made
Every article on this site is written one of two ways, and I’ll always be clear which:
From my own car. Where a system or fault can be tested on my Skoda Rapid 1.0 TSI, the article is built on data I logged myself, live OBD2 readings, screenshots from my own phone, and in some cases video of the actual scan. Examples you can check right now: my fuel-trim logs at idle, cruise and load, two years of before/after data from my Stage 1 remap, and a year of daily use behind my scanner review.
From documented real-world cases. My car can’t throw every fault code, so for codes I haven’t personally experienced, articles are built from documented owner reports, verified community fixes, and manufacturer technical bulletins, cross-checked against how the system actually works, never rewritten from generic code databases. Every fault-code page follows the same tested structure: verdict first, causes ranked by real-world frequency, honest costs last.
What I never publish: rewritten manuals, unverified forum folklore, or advice I wouldn’t follow on my own car.
What You’ll Find on TheCarLane
Four areas: how engines and sensors actually work, explained simply · OBD2 diagnostics, live-data interpretation and fault-code walkthroughs · performance tuning, built on my own two-year Stage 1 experience · and practical ownership guides from four years with the Rapid 1.0 TSI.
How This Site Is Funded
TheCarLane is independent. It earns through clearly-disclosed affiliate links (mainly Amazon), digital reference guides I’ve written and sell directly, and display advertising. No manufacturer, tuner, or tool brand pays for coverage or reviews, where a product was provided for review, the article says so plainly. The tools I recommend are ones I bought and use.
My Approach & Responsibility
I don’t promote unsafe modifications, shortcuts, or unverified fixes. Articles inform and explain, they don’t replace professional diagnosis. Readers are always encouraged to consult qualified professionals when required, maintain their vehicles responsibly, and follow manufacturer guidelines.
