OBDeleven plans come in three. Free, which every device comes with, reads every module, shows live data and clears faults, and you can run One-Click Apps on it with a credit pack. PRO buys manual coding on a VW-group car and nothing else; it includes no credits, so it doesn’t buy you a single One-Click App. ULTIMATE buys 10,000 credits’ worth of apps a year plus everything in PRO.
For most owners the right answer is Free plus a credit pack. You need PRO only if you want to change settings by hand and know what you’re changing. You need ULTIMATE only if you’ll use many apps, and “many” means about sixteen a year on a BMW and hundreds on a VW.
Everything about the free plan below comes from running an OBDeleven 3 (you’ll also see the brand written OBD11) on my Skoda Rapid 1.0 TSI and my BMW X5 in India, on Free with credits. I haven’t paid for PRO or ULTIMATE, so where a fact comes from OBDeleven’s documentation rather than from a car, it says so. Prices were checked in September 2026.
Which OBDeleven Plan Do You Need?

Credits on the web store: 10 for €1.99, 100 for €17.99, 500 for €74.99. That’s €0.20, €0.18 and €0.15 a credit, so a BMW app at 50 credits costs €7.50 to €10 depending on the pack. In India the app charged ₹399, ₹2,999 and ₹9,900 for the same packs, so if you’re outside Europe, check both prices before you pay; the store price works out cheaper. The store also shows PRO as €5.00 a month and ULTIMATE as €15.84, but that’s the annual price divided by twelve; you pay €59.99 or €189.99 once a year, and there’s no monthly option. The store bills in euros; at September 2026 rates PRO is roughly £52 or $65 a year and ULTIMATE roughly £165 or $205, and your card does the conversion. US buyers may see dollar prices on the store; they sit close to the euro figures.
A plan is software. It doesn’t include the device, and it lives on your account rather than on the dongle, so one plan works on every car you connect.
What the OBDeleven Free Plan Includes
Everything you’d call diagnostics. On my Rapid the free plan opened the engine module over UDS, showed the fault screen (no faults stored), gave advanced live data (long-term mixture adaptation at −1.6%) and a 22-field identification screen. That’s more than a £30 Bluetooth adapter and a generic app will show you, and it costs nothing.
The paywall is one tap further. Coding, Adaptations and Basic Settings all appear in the module menu, and tapping any of them opens the upgrade screen. Reading is free. Writing is PRO. If you’re only ever going to read, you don’t need a plan.
One thing to check before you buy anything: whether the app you want actually works on your car. The app listed 35 One-Click Apps for my India-spec Rapid, and the one I tried, Gauge Test needle sweep at 10 credits, came back “Function not available”. The credits stayed in the balance. A listed app is a promise the car may not keep, and no plan changes that.
Does OBDeleven PRO Include Credits?
No, and this is the mistake that fills the owner threads and the product reviews: people buy PRO expecting the apps, then find each app still costs credits. OBDeleven’s own plan guide says it plainly. PRO unlocks manual coding; credits activate apps; ULTIMATE includes apps. They’re separate systems, and you can use credits on the free plan without buying anything else.
So if the thing you want is an app, PRO doesn’t help; buy credits. If the thing you want is a setting no app offers, PRO is the only way in, and using it won’t cost you credits.
What is the OBDeleven PRO Plan For?
Changing settings by hand on a VW, Audi, Skoda, SEAT or Cupra: coding, long coding, adaptations, basic settings, and the SFD unlock on 2020-to-2023 cars. That’s the whole list. Manual coding isn’t listed for BMW in OBDeleven’s documentation, so PRO won’t unlock a BMW, in India or anywhere; BMW features on OBDeleven are apps, paid with credits.
Before you buy it, know what the reviews get right: there’s no manual. PRO gives you the adaptation channels and the long-coding bytes; it doesn’t tell you what each one does on your car. If you buy it, back up the module’s values before you change anything, use instructions written for your exact car and module, and if you don’t know what a setting controls, leave it. A wrong adaptation puts a car in a garage.
Which Plan for Battery Registration or Service Reset?
If a battery change or a service light is what brought you here, check the route before you buy anything. I haven’t done either with OBDeleven; this is what its guides say.

Two things the guides are clear on: reset the reminder after the service is done, not before, and don’t buy a plan because someone with a different model used it. Find the function for your car, then buy what that function needs.
Is OBDeleven ULTIMATE worth it?
Only if you’ll use a lot of apps, and how many is “a lot” depends on your car.
The app calls ULTIMATE’s apps unlimited. The terms say 10,000 credits per 12-month period, allocated when you activate, with unused credits lost at the end of the year. For one owner that’s effectively unlimited, but the number exists and the terms say it can change.
When ULTIMATE beats buying credits (my arithmetic, not OBDeleven’s, and apps vary in price, so treat the numbers as a guide, not a rule):
- You own a BMW. Apps cost 50 credits each. At India prices, ₹24,900 buys about 830 credits in 100-packs, so ULTIMATE wins once you’d activate roughly 16 apps in a year. In euros, nearer 20.
- You own a VW-group car. Most apps cost 1 to 10 credits, so you’d need hundreds of activations a year. It almost never wins.
- You like trying things and undoing them. Reverting an app costs the same credits as activating it, so every change you undo is charged twice on credits and not at all on ULTIMATE.
For scale: two BMW apps on my X5, M View cluster and Sport+ mode, cost one 100-credit pack, ₹2,999. ULTIMATE would have cost eight times that for the same two apps.
OBDeleven First-Year Cost: Device, Plan and Packs
If you don’t own the device yet, the store’s Packs bundle it with a plan. In September 2026: the OBDeleven 3 alone €84.99; device + 200 credits €114.99; PRO Pack (device, a year of PRO, 100 credits) €139.99; ULTIMATE Pack (device, a year of ULTIMATE, phone holder, pouch) €259.99. The PRO Pack does include credits even though the PRO plan on its own doesn’t, which makes it the sensible first purchase if you want both coding and a few apps. OBDeleven’s discount codes cluster around Black Friday and Cyber week and have reached 30% on plans, so if the car can wait until late November, wait.
The plain device and the device-plus-200-credits bundle both carry a “No paid plan required” badge in the store, which is OBDeleven saying what this page says: you can use it without a subscription. Ignore the OBDeleven 2 (NextGen) ULTIMATE Pack still listed at €229.99; it’s the previous device. If you already own the device, ignore the Packs and buy the plan or the credits alone.
Do OBDeleven Plans Renew Automatically?
Yes, since 15 September 2026. Activating a web-store PRO or ULTIMATE code now requires a card, and the plan renews each year at the regular price less 10% unless you cancel renewal in Plan & Billing. Cancelling stops the next charge; you keep the year you paid for. A plan that came inside a Pack doesn’t renew unless you switch it on.
If you’re on PRO and buy ULTIMATE, ULTIMATE starts at once and pauses your remaining PRO time; the PRO time resumes when ULTIMATE ends, and PRO’s own renewal is cancelled by default. The €130 gap between the two plans is a difference in list price, not what you’d be charged to upgrade, so check the figure at checkout.
What Happens When Your Plan Expires?
You drop to Free. OBDeleven’s guidance says access to the paid tools ends when the paid period ends, and if ULTIMATE had paused a PRO plan, the PRO time resumes. Free’s diagnostics stay. Credits you bought stay too; only ULTIMATE’s yearly 10,000 reset.
What happens to changes you’ve already made is my reading of the documentation, not something I’ve tested by letting a plan lapse: coding and adaptations are written into the car’s control modules, so they should stay, and OBDeleven’s expiry page talks about losing access to tools, not about undoing changes. Don’t treat them as permanent, though. Owners have reported having to reapply settings after software updates. To make a new manual change afterwards you’d need paid access again; if an app offers the change or the reversal, credits do it on Free.
PRO or ULTIMATE? A Two-Minute Check
- Find the exact app or setting you want, for your exact car, in the app’s catalogue. If it isn’t there, no plan puts it there.
- If it’s an app: count how many you’ll realistically activate this year. Under 16 on a BMW, or almost any number on a VW-group car, buy credits and stay on Free.
- If it’s a setting with no app: that’s PRO, and only if you’re prepared to learn what you’re changing. On a 2024-or-newer VW-group car, check SFD2 support first; it wasn’t there when I checked.
- If it’s several cars, or you change things every month: ULTIMATE.
- If you don’t own the device yet, the PRO Pack is the one bundle that covers both coding and a few apps; OBDeleven’s discount codes cluster around Black Friday and Cyber week and have reached 30% on plans, so if the car can wait until late November, wait.
